Get Over It Productions, an ensemble of beautifully crafted women, have been performing together for several years. Steeped in the traditions of physical theatre and the avant-garde and each armed with our own particular skill and dress size, we conspire to create a unique theatrical feast.
Roll up! As we present “Get Over It, Hamlet” a tongue-in-cheek version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. A tale of murder, betrayal, madness, revenge, love and loss, done in less than half an hour! After the death of his father, and confronted with the quick remarriage of his mother to his uncle, Hamlet is visited by his father’s ghost who reveals a deadly truth. Revenge, trumpets, knickers and knives follow. Last summer Get Over It Productions platformed “Get Over It, Hamlet” at the Inn On The Green as part of the Portobello Festival, where, as part of our process, we invited young women just starting out in their careers to join the company and experience their first professional performances. The founding members of Get Over It Productions are veterans of the Edinburgh Fringe where we have collectively devised and performed our own and others work (Café Royal 2001-2004). Previous productions include collaborations with new writers, in particular, Alison Trower, playwright and poet, with whom we staged her “Rice Trilogy” (Lillian Bayliss Theatre, Sadler’s Wells 2004). Our current project planned for Camden Fringe 2008 (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) is being crafted from Alison’s script “Dance Of Death”. Paula Benson actress/comedienne/camerawoman//teacher/proud mum and director of “Get Over It, Hamlet has done loads of stuff ranging from Stand-Up to the washing-up.
